Why is there So Much Evil and Suffering

1/25/2017

Many people struggle -- honestly struggle -- with the presence of evil in the world. Of course, we struggle with actual evil that we confront every day: violence, hatred, greed, contempt, selfishness, oppression, poverty, addiction, lies, and more. But beyond than that, we struggle with the very idea of evil and its existence. Why is so much of the world so bad? How can both good and evil exist? And if there is a God who is supposed to be both all powerful and all loving -- how does evil exist at all?

Michael Horton says this: "There is no good philosophical answer to the problem of evil, because it's beyond our comprehension. However, there is a historical solution to the problem of evil, and that is the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus."

That may not make a lot of sense to you, but listen to his longer explanation in this video, and see if there isn't something in it that helps make sense of this very big question.
